Have a phone number you’d like to keep private, but you need someone to contact you? This would be the perfect service (think posting on craigslist, personal ads, ebay…); or if you have expensive long distance calls to make, this service could save you money by offering a local phone number to use – though you’d still be using your cell phone airtime.
Appears to be totally free while still in beta (no invite needed). Sign up with your email address (that could be shared) and a phone number (will remain confidential) and add your email contacts.
You can post a link online with your email address…an example their site offers is http://callme.jangl.com/crazy@britneyspears.com …and then – as they explain:
”They just click your link to get a phone number to call you, without ever knowing your real number. They can leave you voice messages that we’ll send to your email. If you want to talk, you can get a number to call them back and forward their calls to your phone.”
Seems a tad complicated for everyday use, but will serve a great purpose for those who need it. Would be amazing if they struck a deal with another company for more integration, especially an email provider.
